oin us on the WAG-Qaumajuq rooftop for The Live Mixtape concert to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day!

This is the final phase of Threads of Kin and Belonging: A Trinnipeg Live Mixtape Project, a multi-tiered exhibition centering and celebrating Black and Indigenous voices, communities, and Nations. We launched the project during Black History Month, and we will conclude on National Indigenous Peoples Day. Threads of Kin and Belonging is an intervention and conversation between Indigenous Nations and Black communities on Treaty One Territory. This project is about creating, defining, and collaborating in a space by us—our kin.

There is beauty in creating something new in partnership. We are a small piece of a larger movement of deciding—on our terms—what it is to be welcomed and what it is to be us, on this land known as Treaty One. We are exploring our collective histories and our unique, but intertwined futures—to create threads of kin and belonging.

On National Indigenous Peoples Day, we’re celebrating with a concert of an incredible lineup of artists that brings together Prairie poets, performers, producers & artists to create new collaborative work with a hip-hop / R&B base.

You don’t want to miss this celebratory night of music and artistry! Curated by Nestor Wynrush and Julia Lafrenière.
