Sunday July 13 – Tales from the Homestead

Steam Locomotive

Sit back, relax and listen to our onboard historian and published author, as he recounts stories of his Grandfather’s journey to Manitoba in 1903. His journey, on a train just like ours, is the start of his family’s farming adventures through the generations. During the stopover in Grosse Isle join our historian as he shares poetry from his book of Poets and Pioneers. Bill will also be available to discuss his first book of Pork and Potatoes, a story about his childhood and experiences in Grosse Isle. As well as his latest book, Under Italian Skies, about his uncle, a Canadian soldier in Italy during WWII who helps to save the life of a 6 year old boy. Bills passion to share the rich history of generations is not to be missed. Bring along your own picnic or indulge in a freshly prepared hotdog or smokie, leaving space for a baked treat or ice cream. Take a stroll through the beautifully restored heritage buildings before we head back to the city. Don’t miss out on this extremely popular event!
