Lower Fort Garry is a nationally significant fur trade site built nearly 200 years ago from Manitoba limestone. Since 1985, the Friends of Lower Fort Garry have worked to help Manitobans connect with this rich history through engaging programs like ghost tours, craft markets, and youth camps. In celebration of our 40th anniversary, we invite you to Glitter by the River, a one-of-a-kind fundraising gala on August 21, 2025.

Step back into the Roaring '20s and experience Lower Fort Garry in a whole new way. Inspired by the Fort’s past as the Manitoba Motor Country Club, this Gatsby-style outdoor cocktail party features live jazz and swing, interactive food stations, and a cash bar with signature cocktails and mocktails. Guests can enjoy speakeasy-style games, photo ops, and 1920s-inspired fashion for a night of dancing, elegance, and historical flair.

Funds raised will support:

- The Andrew Henderson Memorial Scholarship for Selkirk High grads;

- A youth programming subsidy offering free camps for local families, including Nova House;

- Youth employment and training opportunities on-site.

Rain or shine, we’ll celebrate four decades of history, community, and fun, and we’d love for you to be part of it!
