Big Day at the Museum: Sky’s the Limit Reading & Battle of Britain Aircraft Display

Join the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025, for an unforgettable day celebrating Canadian aviation history—both on the page and on the tarmac.

At 10:30 a.m., acclaimed author Wanda Taylor will share her inspiring new book Sky’s the Limit: Canadians who blazed a trail in aviation. Featured in the book are pioneering Indigenous pilots Robyn Shlachetka, Raven Beardy, and Kimberly Ballantyne, who will also be present to share their own remarkable experiences in the cockpit. Sky’s the Limit also highlights many other trailblazers, including aviation engineer Elsie MacGill—whose career included work on the Fairchild Super 71, an aircraft proudly on display at the museum.

Following the reading, step outside and experience a rare Battle of Britain aircraft display in partnership with the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum. Historic aircraft such as a Harvard, Cornell, Tiger Moth, and Finch will be on static display, honouring the service and sacrifice of RCAF crews during the Battle of Britain and celebrating Canada’s contribution to the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan.

Please note: All guest pilot appearances and visiting aircraft are subject to weather, mechanical, and operational considerations.
